Standards for CAD/CAE/CAM
摘要
In the machine design and manufacturing sectors, the 1960s witnessed the change of transforming from conventional technical drawings on paper to electronic CAD drawings, embodying various advantages such as boosting productivity and improving flexibility in carrying out design amendments. CAD tools have also paved the way towards the advancements in CAM via generating drawing-oriented manufacturing commands for faster operations. Standardization in industrial sectors that utilize CAD/CAE and CAM has helped mitigate various issues associated with data exchange between computerized systems. These standardization efforts have taken place across the world so that computer-aided design and manufacturing can be carried out effectively on a global scale. This chapter is dedicated to the discussion of various information and geometry exchange standards in CAD/CAE and CAM.
