Evaluating Blockchain Platforms for Efficient Intellectual Property Rights Management: A Cross-Chain Analysis

This paper examines the application of blockchain technology, smart contracts, and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in the management of intellectual property (IP) rights. We analyze four EVM-compatible blockchain platforms - BNB Chain, Fantom, Polygon, and Celo - to assess their suitability for IP management tasks. The study focuses on key operational aspects including transaction fees, gas limits, gas usage, and gas prices for common IP-related operations such as contract creation, NFT minting, and NFT transfer. By comparing these factors across platforms, we aim to provide insights into the economic feasibility and efficiency of blockchain-based IP management systems. Our findings reveal significant variations in cost structures and resource allocation among the platforms, which have important implications for their practical application in IP rights management. This research contributes to the ongoing discussion on the potential of blockchain technology to enhance the transparency, security, and efficiency of IP management processes in the digital age.
