Indocyanine Green Fluorescence Angiography (ICGFA) is an emerging technique being utilized for intraoperative evaluation of surgical margins in soft tissue sarcoma surgery. At present, margin adequacy is mainly dependent on the operative surgeon’s clinical impression. Intraoperative frozen section evaluation is often used, particularly in areas where the surgeon is concerned that her or his margin may be inadequate. Permanent histopathological examination, though imperfect, is considered to yield the definitive assessment of margin status. Implementation of ICGFA for intraoperative surgical margin assessment may provide a safe, objective technique to aid the sarcoma surgeon in achieving negative margins. Here we present the case of a soft tissue sarcoma patient who underwent tumor resection where ICGFA was used intraoperatively to assess tumor bed surgical margins.
