Study of ZigBee-Based Communication to Share Operative Weather Information Between UASs in the Frame of Smart Cities Concept
摘要
Nowadays unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) including small UASs are proposed for a wide range of industrial applications including concepts of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0., smart cities, and IoT. One of the factors that can influence the safe operation and mission realization in the frame of modern industrial concepts is the weather or weather phenomena. In many cases, the vast and real-time information is crucial for successful mission realization. For this, it is reasonable to consider the network of operating UASs not only as instruments for particular task but as a network of existing mobile platforms for atmospheric measurements. Therefore, the additional task can be performed simultaneously with the primary one. In this context, it is also important to investigate the abilities of communication channels and protocols to share real-time information between and transmit it to ground stations or the autopilot of other unmanned aircraft taking into account the peculiarities of the modern urban environment. In this paper, we investigate the ZigBee protocol for meteorological data sharing and exchange as well as the influence of urban obstacles and other radio noises on it.
