Key Drivers and Barriers to Digital Transformation of the Electric Power Industry in CIS Countries
摘要
Digitalization is one of the priority areas of strategic development and is crucial for the stable development of the economy. The article is devoted to the study of the process of digital transformation of the electric power industry of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, which opens up opportunities to improve energy efficiency, optimize equipment operation, improve energy demand forecasting and ensure more reliable operation of the energy system. The authors describe the principle scheme of digital transformation of the energy sector and note that successful digital transformation of the CIS power sector requires a comprehensive approach that takes into account both incentive factors and existing barriers, the most significant of which are discussed in the article. The article reflects the peculiarities of the CIS power industry, presents the stages of implementation of digital technologies in different countries and indicates the expected economic effect of their implementation, which consists in reducing the costs of energy companies, reducing the growth of the price burden on consumers and increasing the flexibility of the tariff policy for energy resources. It also describes the main ways and possible strategies for overcoming barriers to successful digital transformation of the energy sector, which require the development of a multidimensional long-term plan and coordinated efforts on the part of the government and energy companies.
