This chapter explores the digitalisation of Indigenous cultural heritage (ICH) in the context of peace transitions. It explores the experience of the Colombian Truth Commission, which undertook a massive effort of ICH digitalisation to create an inclusive narrative of the armed conflict in the country with an aim to navigate the tension between the need for “truth” that is pivotal in any transitional effort and the diversity of situated life-experiences that necessarily emerge from a decades-long conflict that disproportionately affects Indigenous peoples, among others. ICH digitalisation was key to that effect. It provided a digital platform for a kaleidoscope of voices that underscored the Truth Commission’s central role as a clearing house of narratives. As the Colombian case suggests, ICH in transitional contexts is deeply intertwined with the broader power dynamics that frame these cases. Beyond mere protection of heritage, an effort to point out underlying ideas about the power and knowledge production of those in charge of digitalisation is crucial to create inclusive, digital, and transitional truth-telling environments.
