Sustainability has become essential and, at the same time, a tremendous challenge for the construction sector and its sub-areas, such as interior design. Since 1994, studies on sustainable interior design have been increasing, and no study currently analyzes the characteristics and perspectives of scientific advancement. The aim is to map the development of knowledge that integrates interior design and sustainability and point out its trends and gaps. The bibliometric method was used, which allowed the analysis of 472 documents extracted from Scopus, published between 1994 and 2023. The last 15 years covered more than 95% of publications. Analyses were carried out on the type and language of publications, frequency of publications, geographic distribution, thematic categories, and keywords. The results revealed gaps, especially in the specification of sustainable materials and products, highlighting an area that requires greater depth of knowledge. Therefore, several research opportunities were highlighted and discussed: comfort, sustainable materials, sustainability assessment of interior projects, and professional training.
