Collaborative Work with Anesthesiologists
摘要
Collaborative work with anesthesiologists is key in pediatric surgical oncology. It is advisable that anesthesiologists work hand to hand with the multidisciplinary treating team of oncologist, surgeons, nurses, palliative care, and pain management programs as well as with many other specialties involved in the care of children with cancer. Tumor board meetings are an excellent opportunity to discuss all aspects of children with cancer, including relevant clinical information for the anesthesiologist. In this chapter, we provided information on general principles of pediatric anesthesia for the child with cancer as well as specific tips and tricks for the most common surgical oncology procedures. Preoperative evaluation, patient information, induction, airway issues, emergence from anesthesia, recovery, and management of complications are discussed.
