It examines how the concepts of variability, diversity, and redundancy, derived from evolutionary biology, serve as foundational principles for rethinking architectural and urban design. Moving beyond static, deterministic models, the chapter argues for an adaptive and flexible approach to design, one that responds to the evolving needs of both human and ecological systems. Drawing from case studies in global contexts, it explores how informal urbanism, cultural ecology, and exaptive processes shape resilient environments.
