With the continuous reduction of available space resources and the constant intensification of spatial organization methods in China’s big cities, many complex large-scale suburban university campuses continue to emerge. People’s activities in these campuses are becoming increasingly rich, transportation needs are becoming increasingly diverse, and slow-moving transportation has become their main mode of transportation. In addition, the content, form, and problems of slow-moving transportation have also changed, and the design of service system based on shared autonomous vehicles can effectively respond to the above issues. This paper takes slow-moving transportation scenario of large suburban university campuses as the main research object. Through field observation, case studies and questionnaire surveys, a systematic campus scenario study from User sub-scenario, Environment sub-scenario to Task sub-scenario (UET Scenario Analysis) was conducted, including space types, transportation systems, users’ travel needs and transportation behaviors. Two campus transportation space types suitable for building autonomous vehicle-based service system and Environmental sub-scenario characteristics were identified. Through the data quantitative analysis results of a questionnaire survey on users’ slow-moving transportation conditions in university campus, the characteristics of User sub-scenarios (transportation demand) and Task sub-scenarios (travel behavior) were derived. A set of campus slow-moving transportation scenario characteristics were developed to provide the research basis for the analysis and design of slow-moving transportation service.
