Financial Literacy Through Design Lens: A Scoping Review
摘要
Financial literacy is a topic being researched from different perspectives, foci, and lenses, with theoretical to practical aims, with different instructional media supports, either printed or technological. However, given the key role of design in crafting literacy efforts, it has not been extensively researched from the design field and its sub-disciplines namely interaction design, experience design, information design, communication design, graphic design, or co-design, among others. Design facilitates an adequate articulation of a message for its audience, thus it is fundamental to analyse it from this perspective as a novel way to address financial literacy interventions, the development and deployment of its resources at different scales, either for individuals, communities, organisations or even, the government. Through a scoping literature review, this article presents a summary of the most relevant literature in financial literacy and design, analysed using design lens namely as design and its sub-disciplines playing a central role in the research process and/or its outcomes. Tentatively, I outline gaps and future research between financial literacy and design. Recently, technology advancements are being utilised to create tools that help all kinds of users, from children to retirees, to overcome financial illiteracy and achieve sustainable financial well-being.
