This Chapter 4 focuses on defining the concept of competency and explaining the essence of competency models, their process of creation, and the approaches applied to it. This Chapter 4 presents the views on the composition of competencies and the requirements for creating competency models represented in the literature. In addition, examples of competency models influenced by digitalization are given. In the next part of the Chap. 4 , the importance of digital competencies in business practice in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is emphasized, and selected digital competency models are presented. Due to the limited amount of professional literature available in the Czech language, foreign publications, professional articles, and studies are primarily analyzed here.
