A group of senior banking managers from different banks operating in the city of Nairobi in Kenya held a meeting to discuss issues of employee resourcing. Their focus group discussion was guided by a checklist. A key issue is that there are many problems regarding the implementation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Spirituality (DEIS) provisions in employee resourcing that would need to be addressed in order to foster inclusive, equitable, and spiritually support at the workplaces. The article finds that favoritism, ethnicity, age, religious bias, and gender discrimination, as well as corruption, significantly inhibit the recruitment and selection process in Kenyan banks. Consequently, the ability to hire the best workers to improve competitiveness is also inadvertently hampered.
