The central tegmental tract (CTT) connects the red nucleus to the ipsilateral inferior olivary nucleus. In the medulla, CTT is anterior to the spinocerebellar tract and the spinothalamic tract, posterior to the medial lemniscus. In the pons, CTT is more posterior, being anterolateral to the medial longitudinal fasciculus. In the midbrain, CTT is medial to the dentato-rubro-thalamocortical tract, to reach the red nucleus.
