Fornix
摘要
The inferior, lateral end of the fornix arises from the hippocampus. The fornix then sweeps superiorly, medially, and posteriorly, superior to the hippocampal tail, and around the posterior pulvinar, medial to the stria terminalis. Proceeding anteriorly, the two fornices converge into the body of the fornix. Descending anteriorly, the fornices divide into anterior and posterior columns by the interposition of the anterior commissure. The anterior columns terminate in the lateral septal nuclei and the posterior columns in the mammillary bodies and, indirectly, in the anterior thalamic nuclei.
