Securing FSK-Based Paging System Using Format Preserving Encryption (FPE)
摘要
Whether it's a hospital, a restaurant, or a cafe, paging systems have become an indispensable technology in the service industry. It is also a technology utilized in emergencies beyond the simple function of calling. The pager system is a simple wireless communication system that utilizes FSK-based methods to make calls, but since it transmits simple data, there are security threats such as eavesdropping. However, paging systems are already in use in many service industries and can cause significant disruption to the system through replay attacks, call abuse, etc. Therefore, in this paper, we propose to increase the security of the paging system by encrypting wireless transmission packets using FF3-1, one of the format-preserving encryption algorithms, for secure communication. In addition, the applicability of the FPE is demonstrated by comparing the performance of the proposed method with that of other symmetric encryption algorithms.
