This longitudinal ethnographic research explores the impact of structural violence on the health, psychosocial well-being, and learning disposition of Venezuelan college students aged 17–25. The study collected data from interviews, surveys, testimonials, and focus groups involving 2500 students and 120 collaborations with peers from 20 different countries. The study demonstrates how one type of virtual exchange referred to as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) can serve as a transformative tool for educational inclusion and sustainability, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. The research proposes a series of pedagogical strategies that promote self-efficacy, resilience, and student empowerment. COIL fosters an experiential, active, and engaging learning environment that cultivates confidence, empowerment, and the ability to confront reality and exercise agency. Learners develop awareness, empathy, self-control, and emotional maturity through critical reflection and discourse with partners abroad. The research concludes that action-oriented reframing engages students in metacognitive reflection, leading to individual transformation. COIL holds promise for addressing the challenges of education in crisis-affected areas, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality learning opportunities, regardless of their circumstances.

摘要
