The article presents the foundations of environmental policy and other policies important from the point of view of future generations in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland of 2 April 1997, and then indicates the factual situation and the reasons that imply the search for effective instruments for the implementation of these policies in Poland. A de lege ferenda proposal for the institution of an ombudsman of future generations is presented as a possible solution. The proposal includes the legal status of this ombudsman and its competences, which take into account the adaptation of this body to the Polish constitutional system.
