This chapter presents the analytical description of thick beam and plate members. Based on the three basic equations of continuum mechanics, i.e., the kinematics relationship, the constitutive law and the equilibrium equation, the partial differential equations, which describe the physical problems, are derived. The presented theories for thick members consider, as one potential approach, a constant shear stress distribution over the thickness.

摘要

This chapter presents the analytical description of thick beam and plate members. Based on the three basic equations of continuum mechanics, i.e., the kinematics relationship, the constitutive law and the equilibrium equation, the partial differential equations, which describe the physical problems, are derived. The presented theories for thick members consider, as one potential approach, a constant shear stress distribution over the thickness.
