The Crucial Role of Perceived Wellbeing in Mobile Health Technologies Adoption and Individuals’ Positive Reactions: A Mediation Model
摘要
Mobile Health Technologies are transforming not only healthcare but the entire process of healthcare delivery by enabling remote patient monitoring, continuous interactions, and more. In this context, the concept of the positive use of new technologies in the service of humanity is maximized, as it is situated within the healthcare setting, which is fundamentally aimed at restoring health and thereby oriented towards the wellbeing of individuals. Based on this premise in this chapter, through an exploratory research design based on an experiment conducted among a sample of 175 participants, we investigated the effect of integrating digital technologies (vs. the absence) in patients’ monitoring and its impact on their positive reactions. The study, based on a 2 × 2 cell experiment, shed light on the positive effects of digital technology integration on both individuals’ intention to use new technologies to follow therapies and engage in positive word-of-mouth. Importantly, we explored how individuals’ perceived wellbeing resulting from the use of these technologies mediates (and explains) the aforementioned effects.
