Environmental sustainability is part of sustainable organizational development, impacting organizational strategies, investor interest, and global sustainability efforts. Organizational environmental sustainability remains challenging due to complex supply chains and multifaceted environmental issues. A core challenge is ensuring consistent environmental sustainability across projects and equitably distributing its benefits to all supply chain stakeholders. This chapter explores how decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) can address environmental sustainability. It will detail the foundational principles and implementation of DAOs, analyze their potential for environmental sustainability, and highlight related benefits, challenges, and potential solutions.
