The Impact of Language Complexity on Decision-Making Performance in Multicultural Teams
摘要
This paper investigates how language used in multicultural contexts influences decision-making using an online survey. This study addresses a gap in research which focuses on lingua franca environments in professional settings. The analysis hypothesizes that increased language diversity and reduced downward communication flow negatively influence decision-making success. It also looks at the relationship between inherent and processing language complexity and their effects on team dynamics and performance. It was found that high language complexity slows down the efficiency of decision-making. There is a need for strategies to enhance communication in multicultural teams.
