Linguistic Analysis of Decision-Making in Healthcare Communication
摘要
Healthcare decision-making is complex, especially when considering the linguistic differences used by clinicians and patients when communicating. Research on the nuances of clinical communication remains limited. This paper looks at existing research and suggests a strategy to use video data to understand the verbal and non-verbal communication happening in healthcare. It also highlights the importance of language in building a good rapport between patients and healthcare providers, in taking a patient-centered approach, and how linguistic features can have a significant impact on the outcomes of medical treatment. Discourse analysis and sociolinguistics can show how language influences understanding and decision-making in such interactions.
