A detailed survey is the name given for the engineering techniques and methods used to assess and record the 3D location, orientation, dimensions, and shape of geospatial data for land management. In the case of Civil Engineering, this means collecting information such as building corners, fences, benches, curbs or even a tree, which can be used to help engineers design plans for buildings, roads, bridges and various other construction and infrastructure projects. The data collected is then processed in the office to produce topographic maps.
