The EPPO: A New Era of Supranational Criminal Justice
摘要
This final chapter summarises the main findings and, synthesising the precise causal process that has produced the EPPO, draws the main conclusion, according to which the EPPO can be considered as the result of ideational power. Although the analysis was limited to the single case study of the EPPO, we can cautiously draw broader conclusions on the state of contemporary EU integration, the dynamics of ideational change, and “multispeed Europe”. Moreover, the chapter broadens the perspective beyond the adoption-phase of the EPPO by briefly addressing its implementation. It explores key developments that have unfolded since the adoption of the EPPO Regulation and how conflicts pertaining to the negotiation process are impacting the implementation and actual functioning of the EPPO today. The chapter concludes by reflecting on potential scenarios for the EPPO’s future and the further federalisation of EU criminal law.
