In this paper, a neopragmatic methodology is applied to sketch an alternative historical scenario in which five pre-colonial African empires emerge as colonizers of Europe. Drawing on constructivist theories and the concept of contingency in relation to landscape, our study challenges traditional narratives by reversing the technical presuppositions that enabled the European colonization of Africa. We present three maps that depict Europe in different time periods (1500–1881) and show the hypothetical consequences of such a scenario in relation to landscape. The focus is exclusively on the geographical aspect of border demarcation, without highlighting the political, economic, or socio-cultural consequences of such a scenario.
