This study discusses and explores, the importance of research into the gamification of cities and the integration of Extended Reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR), and the Metaverse within urban environments. Given the rapid urbanization and the growing digitalization of society, understanding how these technologies can enhance urban living, foster community engagement, and improve public spaces is crucial. The main goal is to assess the transformation of urban areas into more interactive and livable spaces through gamification and digital advancements. Key research questions focus on the contributions of these technologies to urban development, education, social interaction, and public health. Findings suggest that integrating gamified elements and XR technologies into urban planning can significantly enhance city life, education, and health. However, addressing technological accessibility, privacy, and the digital divide is crucial for realizing these benefits.
