Deviant landscapes can be understood as landscapes that do not correspond to the current norms of ‘landscape’ as the material basis of the synopsis of ‘things’, including both individual as well as social constructions. Following the theoretical basis of neopragmatism, the creation of deviant landscapes is aligned with the aim of increasing landscape contingency to expand the range of what can be said about landscape on the one hand, and to develop useful perspectives on landscape on the other.
