The Posthumous Usage of AI in Artistic Contexts

Finishing a work of art left incomplete by a deceased artist through AI raises many thought-provoking questions. The entry begins with a historical overview of this practice and highlights selected cases where technology has been used for posthumous completion and generation of artworks. The entry then examines different perspectives on such artistic endeavors, including those of artists, as well as ethical, authenticity, and legal considerations. Finally, it suggests possible avenues for future research.
