Previous studies have examined social media’s impact on #NotTooYoungToRun and youth political engagement. However, the #NotTooYoungToRun framing on Twitter (now X) and its impact on collective action has received sparse attention. This chapter investigates the framing of #NotTooYoungToRun on Twitter, and the (de)merits of the movement. Employing the framing theory, this chapter triangulates a mixed-method design of in-depth interviews and quantitative content analysis. Twelve purposively selected young Twitter political influencers resident in Lagos were interviewed, and 515 tweets from a downloaded search of #NotTooYoungToRun were content analyzed. The findings revealed that the inspirational #NotTooYoungToRun gained national attention through social media and secured an age reduction to enable youths to run for election. But Nigerian youth cannot still win elections as they are either too poor or incompetent. Hence, #NotTooYoungToRun is inadequate and inimical to SDGs 10.2, 10.3 and 16.7 (political equality, inclusion and the elimination of discriminatory laws).

摘要
