Recurrent selection refers to population improvement selection methods involving recombination of selected genotypes applied to crop plant populations with the aim of increasing the frequency of favourable genes, desirable gene combinations and superior genotypes. Recurrent selection methods are designed to solve the limitations of traditional methods of producing inbred lines for development of hybrid varieties, synthetic varieties and open pollinated varieties in cross pollinated crops and production of pure line varieties in self-pollinated crops.

摘要

Recurrent selection refers to population improvement selection methods involving recombination of selected genotypes applied to crop plant populations with the aim of increasing the frequency of favourable genes, desirable gene combinations and superior genotypes. Recurrent selection methods are designed to solve the limitations of traditional methods of producing inbred lines for development of hybrid varieties, synthetic varieties and open pollinated varieties in cross pollinated crops and production of pure line varieties in self-pollinated crops.
