Stereotypes Without Types - Critical Review of “Female Body Volume”
摘要
This article is structured by a critical review of the book “From fat to plus size” with an approach directed to the fashion market and the relationship of women in the context Portuguese. Beauty standards change frequently, however, in the last two centuries the fat woman has been the victim of stigma by society and the fashion industry. It makes use of bibliographic reference for the conceptual discussion of the cultural construction of the female body - what is its impact on the world, the influence of biopolitics, and how it builds a standardized society, not only in relation to the body, but also in the lifestyle and thinking of the world population. It presents the result of an exploratory questionnaire that demonstrates latent inconsistencies about Portuguese users and the offer of the young women's fashion market - which highlights a problem that can be further explored in research and by the fashion market.
