Device and Drug Procurement
摘要
Preparing a rationale, realistic, and convincing business plan for hospital administrators is an essential step in starting a new hepatic arterial infusion pump program. A recommended goal for patient accrual rate is one to two patients per month for the first year, with 5% growth per year. Once financial support is obtained and staff are appropriately trained, the first pump and backup device, associated supplies, and floxuridine chemotherapy can be ordered in advance of scheduling the first operation. If floxuridine is not already on hospital formulary, additional processes are required for approval and purchase of the drug. This chapter details the key steps to consider at most institutions regarding device and drug procurement.
