Addressing Market-Oriented Education in Higher Education with Advances in Democratization of Knowledge Through Accessibility in Technology

Since the renewal of the global commitment about the Sustainable Development Goals, education reinforces its role as a global vital service for all the communities. However, differences in accessibility and the practices of Higher Education Institutes towards a market-oriented response persist. The main goal of the present article is to dialogue between academic contributions on how market-oriented education needs to be changed to sustainable education and the importance of the emergence of the concept democratization of knowledge. This article applies a comprehensive methodology of literature review from open access resources that were selected regarding their key words and taking into consideration the type of source publication. An essential aspect of the findings is the importance of accessibility and dialogue of multiple actors. Most of the literature strengthens the idea that market-oriented education only assesses the needs of a certain part of the population while democratization needs to continuously work on the commitment of education for all. As a conclusion, education needs to explore tools with the use of technology because it will expand the accessibility while improving the resources in the learning journey. The article invites to continue the exploration on what technologies and resources are more adequate to each eco-system.
