In this chapter, we examine a linear one degree-of-freedom (DOF) base excited vibration isolator system as the simplest model for a vibration isolator and vehicle suspension. Based on a root mean square (RMS) optimization method, we develop a design chart to determine the optimal damper and spring rate for the best vibration isolation and ride comfort.
