Magic Planters: AI-Enhanced Design in an AR Game for Behavioral Improvement

In digital era, people seek immersive experiences to explore new modes of life and create delightful feelings. XR experiences, especially those driven by AI, show unique potential in emotional improvement and promoting positive behavioral motivation. Recent advancements have integrated AI-driven tools in various games, enhancing creativity and user engagement. We have designed the AR game “Magic Planters,” which constructs a virtual magical plant world based on outdoor environments, creating a place of mental rest. The game allows users to freely edit and interact, experiencing the beauty of nature through visual and auditory feedback. In the design process, we have explored strategies and tools for fostering co-creation with AI to leverage Human-AI collaboration, from creative game scripts to the initial prototype construction of game models. This study explores how AI-empowered AR games can be skillfully integrated into everyday life, offering positive emotions and promoting healthy lifestyles. The results indicate that after engaging with the game, users increased their outdoor activities, received positive emotional feedback, and exhibited a strong desire for social interaction within the game. This demonstrates the significant potential of AI and XR technologies in empowering diverse applications and enhancing user experiences. Additionally, we discuss potential implementations of AI-driven creativity in fields such as entertainment, health, and education.
