Exploring the Impact of AI Painting Tools on Graphic Design Education for Hearing-Impaired Students
摘要
This study investigates the impact of AI-assisted painting tools on the graphic creative design education of students with hearing impairments. Utilizing a 2 x 2 mixed-method approach, 32 students (16 with hearing impairments and 16 without) were selected for an experiment, divided into two assignment modes: using AI tools and traditional methods. The findings indicate that the use of AI tools significantly enhanced the aesthetic appeal and completeness of the students’ work, though the impact on creativity was minimal. The hearing-impaired status did not significantly affect the work’s scores, suggesting that the effective application of AI tools and teaching methods may alleviate the learning difficulties of hearing-impaired students. Interviews further revealed that both groups of students held positive attitudes, but there were some differences in the need for and challenges of using AI tools.
