Given the considerable increase in debates about the nature of science (NoS), we present some initial ideas for the study of epistemology, mainly related to the provisional nature of scientific knowledge, greatly differentiating it from any perspective of permanence, imutability and cumulativeness. A deeper understanding of these ideas and other characteristics of the sciences will be presented in Chaps. 2 and 3 .
