Green nail syndrome (GNS), also known as chloronychia, was first described in 1944 and presents as green nail plate discoloration. It is due to colonization by Pseudomonas aeruginosa [1], an aerobic, coccobacillus, gram-negative bacterium found in moist environments [2]. The bacterium produces the blue-green pigments, pyoverdin and pyocyanin, which account for the characteristic green discoloration [3, 4].
