The focus of this research is to illuminate the legal responsibility of judges in Jordan, taking into account the crucial role they play in upholding justice, establishing laws, and resolving disputes. Any deviation from these duties is considered a criminal offense that carries legal consequences. Since judges are categorized as public officials according to Jordanian Penal Code No. 16 of 1960, the regulations governing their liability align with those applied to other public officials. The objective of this study is to provide clarity on the legal nature of judges’ criminal liability within the framework of Jordanian legislation. The study is organized into two sections: the first section outlines the specific crimes that give rise to judicial liability, while the second section delves into the provisions, particularly those pertaining to judicial immunity. Although the legislation addresses the concept of judicial immunity, it has expanded in scope, requiring caution to prevent it from becoming an actual form of immunity that undermines the supremacy of the law. Among the various suggestions put forth in the study, the most crucial recommendation is to incorporate a separate section into the existing Jordanian Judiciary Independence Law No. 29 of 2014, specifically addressing the matter of “Criminal Liability of Judges.”
