University registers are among the most important sources that can be used for research in social history, the history of education and universities, women’s history, and gender history. This chapter discusses the possibilities of using the digitised and web-based archive of the University of Zurich from a gender perspective, that is, as a source for women’s education and, specifically, women’s educational migration. In particular, it examines the completeness and reliability of digital resources, as well as the potential for their transformation into a database and IT processing. The chapter analyses the information from the digital (web) archive on the educational migration of women between 1849 and 1925. Data on female students from Bulgaria are supplemented with documents from personal archival collections.
