Microgrid Clustering for Enhancing the Grid Resilience in Extreme Conditions
摘要
A cluster of geographically close microgrids (MGs) can be interconnected to form networked microgrids (NMGs) that operate collaboratively to achieve win-win energy management under varying operating conditions. Especially, the formation of NMGs is a strategic and promising effort toward more resilient electricity services in critical load regions. This chapter studies the configuration and operation of NMGs to achieve the resilience improvement goal of active distribution networks (ADNs) in the face of extreme events. First, this chapter points out that MGs are perceived to be building blocks of an ADN. Next, operational and information technologies for networking MGs in an ADN are presented in a systematic way. After revealing cyber-physical vulnerabilities of NMGs under various extreme events, it is shown that NMGs can be operated strategically following an extreme event to better withstand and restore more quickly from extensive disruptions, compared with conventional islanded MGs. Finally, an illustrative case study is done to demonstrate the role of NMGs in improving the ADN resilience under an extreme event.
