The obturator nerve arises from L2–L4 anterior divisions, medial to the psoas major. It exits the pelvis through the obturator foramen and divides into anterior and posterior branches. The anterior division is found deep to adductor longus and pectineus; it supplies adductor longus, brevis, and gracilis. The posterior division passes deep to adductor brevis and supplies obturator externus and adductor magnus. Additional branches include cutaneous and articular.
