Sciatic Nerve
摘要
The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in humans. Its motor branches supply the posterior thigh (hamstrings) and the entire leg and foot. It can be injured during hip or pelvis fractures/dislocations, hip surgeries, or gunshot wounds. Entrapment could occur under the piriformis or hamstring origin tear. It can also be involved in nerve sheath tumors. In the buttock, it is preferable to use the transgluteal approach rather than the gluteal flap. In the thigh, exposure is in the posterior midline of the thigh.
