This chapter is the concluding chapter. Having elaborately explored the effects of colonialism and its lasting legacies that have constrained and impeded socio-economic development in Africa, the “what next” crucial question is attended to in the concluding chapter. Africa’s 50 years of development projections (from 2013 when the continent commemorated half a century of independence), documented in the Agenda 2063 continental framework instrument highlights in Aspiration 7, the ambitious intent to progressively evolve into a leading global development actor. To actualise that ambition entails among many other undertakings, a decoupling from continued external interferences and dependency on foreign aid from developed countries.
