Unmasking New Maternal Realities
摘要
This chapter serves as an introduction to the collective volume where several emerging and affirmed scholars investigate works of global literature, film, and new media through interdisciplinary perspectives and critical theory methodologies. The legacy of Adrienne Rich echoes in the title, providing a point of departure for the examination that is rooted in the frame of Motherhood Studies. The chapter delineates how the principles of matricentric feminism are coherently investigated across the volume whose goal is to keep fostering our understanding of what motherhood, mothering, and maternal subjectivity look like in our contemporary society. In addition, the introduction provides explanations to the structure of the collective work as well as the ways in which the chapters have been placed in specific sections according to their different approaches to the experience of motherhood.
