We shift the focus from (internal) process modeling to modeling the broader supply chain, whereas fluctuations in process dynamics result in undesirable KPIs—such as utilization and delays and cost—fluctuations in supply chain dynamics often result in the bullwhip effect where volatility in inventory levels, order quantities, and supply chain costs propagate with increasing severity up the chain.
