This overview provides a comprehensive examination of electroencephalography’s (EEG) evolving role in diagnosing and treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It traces EEG’s journey from its initial use to the latest advancements in quantitative EEG (QEEG) and event-related potentials (ERPs). This exploration into ADHD’s neurophysiological aspects highlights EEG’s diagnostic potential, its application in identifying ADHD biomarkers through QEEG, and its predictive power in determining treatment outcomes. By synthesizing research on resting-state EEG and ERPs, this chapter elucidates ADHD’s heterogeneity and advocates for EEG’s integration into personalized treatment strategies, emphasizing its value beyond conventional diagnostic methods.
