Influence of Lighting Column Wall Thickness on Passive Safety Coefficient During Car Crash

In this paper was shown Influence of lighting column wall thickness on passive safety coefficient (ASI and THIV) during vehicle impact with a lighting column. The subject related to reduction of passive safety coefficient was chosen because every year in Poland, road accidents involving poles and signs constitute about 1.5–2% of all road accidents, in which, on average, 54 people die and 552 people are injured. To reduce passive safety coefficient was proposed the approach of checking influence of the lighting column wall thickness on the passive safety coefficient. It was done using experimentally verified numerical model of car crash with a lighting column created in FEM convention in LS Dyna software. Passive safety coefficient was determined using MATLAB software, which also allowing change parameters of the LS DYNA batch file. Parameters of material model using in numerical simulation were obtained on the basis of experimental research made on MTS Criterion Model 43.
