The paper presents preliminary results of the Charpy impact tests on epoxy glass laminates at room temperature and after contact with liquid nitrogen. The tested laminates were made of several types of resins with different molecular weights. Four hardeners were used for selected compositions: dicyandiamide (DICY), 4,4′-sulfonyldianiline (DDS), novolac, and anhydride. On the other hand, the applied grammage of the reinforcing phase was 205 g/m2. During the experiment, the samples were loaded with energy of 5J. On the basis of obtained results it was concluded that epoxy glass laminates have better impact properties when in contact with liquid nitrogen and the correct selection of the hardener is of great importance. Additionally, in order to reveal the nature of the damage caused by the tested composite materials, the fracture sites were observed under the Leica DVM6 stereoscopic microscope.
